Roush Invests in Improving Today and Tomorrow's Automotive Technologies

LIVONIA, Mich., Oct. 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Roush is investing millions to expand its testing capabilities to help clients solve their complex automotive challenges. The company has been enhancing its products and services to perform the latest powertrain testing and development that support the global mobility market. Roush will demonstrate its newest advancements at this week's Automotive Testing Expo 2019 in Novi.

"There's so much discussion around autonomous vehicles and electric vehicles, and it's exciting to focus on them," said Jeff Johnston, president of testing services for Roush. "But in the meantime, yesterday and today's vehicles must be newly and continually tested for emissions, safety and durability. Roush's investment allows for that while also preparing for future mobility needs."

Roush's new capabilities allow the company to meet any powertrain testing requirement around the world. The upgrades also mean all testing can be performed in-house, which complements other engineering programs across Roush's corporate divisions, ROUSH CleanTech and ROUSH Performance.

One new product is RADAR PrePro, a fully automated, data-driven, preproduction vehicle testing management software. It includes test planning, test execution management, issues management, workorder management modules and unique engineering data analytics ? all to reduce product development cycles, increase efficiency and lower warranty costs.

Another investment that opened earlier this year, the Roush Advanced Durability Lab, offers full vehicle durability testing. The purpose-built, first-of-its-kind durability and road simulation test facility allows customers to test the structural reliability of vehicles and vehicle components early in the product design timeline. Where road testing takes about a month, the durability rig can complete testing in two to three weeks.

The company has also expanded its dynamometer labs. With more than 50 test cells, Roush's labs provide comprehensive development, durability, engine hot and specialty testing. The company's newest powertrain equipment can handle higher horsepower performance engines, like the ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang at 710 horsepower. Additional capabilities include performing heavy duty transient testing, auto-mapping, diesel and alternative fuel emissions, combustion analysis and climatic testing.

"We understand that our clients' success depends on how quickly they can take their visions from the sketchpad to the marketplace," said Johnston. "Our investment helps us maintain capabilities at the highest levels of an ever-evolving mobility industry in order save our customers time and money."

The investment, which started in 2018, will be completed by 2021. In 2020, the company will be offering major additional capabilities and services at its vehicle emissions test laboratory. This includes all-wheel drive capability, expanded evaporative emissions capabilities, and full compliance to EPA and CARB Part 1066 and EU/Global WLTP and 6.2+ requirements.

In addition to simulation tests, Roush maintains on-road testing facilities across the nation.
