The Pied Piper Exterminators Leverages VAI's S2K Mobile to Continue Operations During Business Disruption

RONKONKOMA, N.Y., Oct. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- VAI, a leading enterprise resource planning (ERP) software developer, announced that The Pied Piper Exterminators, Inc., a leading pest control service provider in the Greater Bay Area in Northern California, has experienced no interruption to its order processing while using the VAI S2K Mobile Order Processing application during the recent power shutdown by Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). S2K Mobile Order Processing, as part of the mobile suite of S2K mobile offerings, provides file synchronization directly with VAI S2K Enterprise ERP software, and gives users offline access to content when a network or wireless connection in unavailable.

For nearly two days, The Pied Piper's service area was greatly impacted by the power shutdown at its corporate office in Scotts Valley, CA. During this time, the company's field agents had no connection to its IBM Power Systems server running IBM i operating system, and were able to continue utilizing the VAI designed Apple iOS service app in an offline setting. Once power was restored, the app automatically synchronized data with the company's IBM i server. As a result, they were able to place and process orders, email service completion notifications, and post invoices and payments to accounts receivable, all without missing a beat.

"When the mobile app was developed, the VAI mobile team recommended that we include this offline feature, and I'm sure glad we did," said Byron Finney, President of The Pied Piper Exterminators, Inc. "In today's world where we rely heavily on mobile technology, particularly the iPad and our mobile service app, we were able to continue our business operations despite having limited power. We are very thankful to VAI's Mobile Development team who have greatly improved the way we do business. In 2020, The Pied Piper will be celebrating its 85th business anniversary and the advancements we have done with the Mobile Development team at VAI are some of the best our company has experienced."

With VAI S2K Mobile Order Processing, users can:

"With the help of VAI S2K Mobile App, The Pied Piper was able to service clients using iPads even when the power was down," said Debajyoti Das, Chief Architect, Mobile Development at VAI. "The company experienced no down time or interruption to sales and customer service. The power of Mobile technology really came through and made a difference for them, and we are proud to be part of their success."
