VA Claims and Appeals Process Interactive Tool Simplifies Complex Appeals Process

The VA Claims and Appeals Process Interactive Tool will be a welcome aid for veterans who struggle to navigate the complex flow of procedures and deadlines that affect the outcome of their disability claims.

The VA Claims and Appeals Process Interactive Tool applies only to VA decisions that were issued after February 19, 2019?after the new VA Appeals Process was launched. For decisions issued prior to February 19, 2019, the tool applies only if the Veteran opted into the Rapid Appeals Modernization Program (RAMP) and received a RAMP decision prior to February 19, 2019.

"The changes that came with this system overhaul are somewhat complicated, and we know the last thing a veteran deserves after fighting for their country is to fight through this appeals process, so we built a tool to help them navigate through it more easily?and get the financial relief they deserve," Chisholm added.

How the VA Claims and Appeals Process Interactive Tool Helps Veterans

Using the VA Claims and Appeals Process Interactive Tool, a Veteran is able to input the date and type of the decision they want to appeal (Initial Rating decision, Higher-Level Review decision, Supplemental Claim decision, Board decision, or Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims [CAVC] decision) and click a button to view the approximate number of days they have left to appeal the decision.

An interactive flow chart then walks the Veteran through the possible appeal options they can pursue.
