CureDuchenne Announces 2020 Line-Up of Educational Events Across U.S. for Duchenne Community

CureDuchenne, a leading nonprofit in Duchenne research, patient care and innovation, announced today its line-up of CureDuchenne Cares events that will take place across the United States in 2020. CureDuchenne Cares, a division of CureDuchenne, is an interactive and educational outreach program for patients, families and health care professionals in the Duchenne muscular dystrophy community. The program provides families with the resources and training they need to help improve patients' lives.

A complete listing of CureDuchenne Cares 2020 dates and locations can be found here: https://www.cureduchenne.org/cureduchenne-cares-2020-events/.

"We are thrilled to offer the Duchenne community so many opportunities to learn, engage and get empowered next year," said Debra Miller, founder and CEO of CureDuchenne. "We launched CureDuchenne Cares eight years ago and since then it has become incredibly valuable to the Duchenne community for education, training and for bringing the community together to support one another and encourage each other to live their most positive and best lives possible, until a cure is found for all."

Entirely underwritten by sponsors and provided at no cost to the Duchenne community, the CureDuchenne Cares program hosts three different formats of educational events ? Sessions, Workshops and FUTURES.

"Sessions" are informal, two-hour conversation-style dinners focused on the mental health and social-emotional aspects associated with Duchenne. By sharing stories and engaging with local families affected by Duchenne, attendees leave the event feeling more hopeful, more connected and less isolated.

"Workshops" offer a full day, immersive educational experience that provides attendees with best practices in Duchenne care, tips from a Certified CureDuchenne Cares Physical Therapist, updates on Duchenne research and clinical trials, and opportunities to engage with local families affected by Duchenne.

"FUTURES" is CureDuchenne Cares' two-day national conference that features over 50 leading researchers and clinicians providing updates on the most viable treatments and clinical trials for Duchenne in panel discussions and symposiums, a resource fair, expert meetups, social gatherings, onsite childcare and an e-gaming lounge.

"Each year we select new cities to bring our CureDuchenne Cares events to and we are excited to get to new markets in 2020 that have been asking for us to come to them," said Tiffany Cook, senior director of CureDuchenne Cares. With only a handful of clinics and physicians in the U.S. that specialize in Duchenne, getting the best care and education can be difficult and costly for many families. Taking our show on the road has helped relieve some of this burden on families affected by Duchenne."
