SeniorAdvice.com Announces Top 20 Cities for Retirement in 2019

AUSTIN, Texas, July 23, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- SeniorAdvice.com one of the nation's top senior housing referral services, released their annual list of America's top cities for retirement in 2019. This is the third annual list of best cities for seniors by SeniorAdvice.com. This year they decided to focus solely on mid-sized cities since most retirees prefer less crowded places but still want a variety of resources available.

For the 2019 list, SeniorAdvice.com considered multiple factors, including the following: percentage of senior population in the area, available social activities, weather, presence of senior communities, quality of healthcare, number of hospitals and pharmacies, cost of living, and the city's SeniorScoretm. SeniorScoretm is the first comprehensive un-biased scoring system specifically designed to identify and measure the livability for seniors, and was created by SeniorAdvice.com. The SeniorScoretm ranking is calculated by compiling and factoring over 100 variables, including access to health care and number of senior residents, to help determine how well a specific location accommodates the comfort and needs of senior citizens.

Multiple cities in Florida made the list, including Coral Springs, for its wonderful weather and beaches, and St. Petersburg, for its high senior population. There is also no state income tax in Florida which is very attractive for retirees. Also, many cities out West were on the list. Glendale, Arizona for its multiple senior facilities available; Eugene, Oregon because it has no state or local tax for residents; Provo, Utah because it's a safe city with lower crime rates; Aurora, Colorado because it has all four seasons; and Huntington Beach, California due to the fact that it's a coastal city that has warm weather. The Southern part of the country was well-represented too. Corpus Christi, Texas for its lower costs; Savannah, Georgia for its coastal and quaint living; Baton Rouge, Louisiana for its low living cost and multiple senior resources; and Tulsa, Oklahoma because of its large number of senior facilities.

The following U.S. cities have been named by SeniorAdvice.com as the most accommodating for seniors in 2019:

  1. Coral Springs, Florida
  2. Glendale, Arizona
  3. Eugene, Oregon
  4. Provo, Utah
  5. Cedar Rapids, Iowa
  6. Manchester, New Hampshire

According to Census data, the U.S. senior population age 65 and older is currently 15.6 percent and is expected to rise to over 21 percent by the year 2050. With these numbers increasing each year, the need to discover locations that are ideal for seniors also increases. SeniorAdvice.com recognizes that the older adult community is currently a very important part of the American population to consider, and has dedicated much time and energy to supporting this group.

"SeniorAdvice.com strives to be an invaluable resource for seniors, their family members, and caregivers. We're also very dedicated to assisting older adults in finding the best locations for retirement and senior housing," said SeniorAdvice.com CEO and Founder, Ryan Patterson.
