Cosmetic Dentistry Does the Job Better and More Safely than Cure-Alls that Can't Back Up Exorbitant Claims, says Elegant Dentistry

MARINA DEL REY, Calif., July 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A June 24 article on Detroit Free Press warns of the potential dangers of charcoal toothpaste, namely that it is just as likely to remove enamel as stains. While the article admits that more studies need to be conducted before charcoal toothpastes are completely condemned, it notes a statement from the American Dental Association stating that charcoal toothpastes should be avoided, at least for the time being. Elegant Dentistry, a dental clinic based in West LA-adjacent Marina del Rey, says that consumers should be wary of cure-all products that seem much too-good-to-be-true.

The dental clinic notes that it is not uncommon to find products that either tout unlikely results or fail to present sufficient side effect warnings. For example, the clinic says that there is some evidence that suggests that activated charcoal products can effectively remove, or at least help remove, surface stains on teeth. However, the clinic continues, many of these products fail to properly warn users that activated charcoal's abrasive properties may also strip enamel, which can never be replaced. Elegant Dentistry is quick to note that much of the available scientific evidence is still in its early stages as charcoal toothpastes are still relatively new to the market, but a lack of scientific testing may be just as worrisome. Ultimately, the clinic echoes the American Dental Associations warnings that customers should probably keep using normal toothpastes until more conclusive evidence is published.

Additionally, Elegant Dentistry says that the best way to remove stains from one's teeth is to visit a skilled and experienced dentist for teeth whitening and other types of cosmetic dentistry. Professional dental techniques are far more likely to successfully whiten and brighten a smile while actually improving a patient's dental health. The clinic adds that dentists conducting expert cleanings can also check for potential issues and address any concerns?things that no product on the market can offer.

The dental office says that spotting ailments such as gum disease before they have time to fully develop can save patients not only a lot of potential pain, but also a lot of financial stress. Prevention is always the best approach.
