Citizens for Pro-Business Delaware Call for End to Chancery Court Boys Club

DOVER, Del., July 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, following the news that Delaware Chancery Court Chief Justice Strine is retiring, Citizens for a Pro-Business Delaware Campaign Manager Chris Coffey has released the following statement:

"We wish Chief Justice Strine well, but it's time to reform the Delaware courts. We will be unveiling our platform tomorrow that calls for more transparency, electronic media recording of court proceedings, randomized selection of judges for cases and other commonsense reforms.

We also believe appointing a woman to lead the court to break the old boys club culture would be a major signal by the Judicial Nominating Committee to accepting that changes are needed. Delaware can't afford to keep dropping in the judicial ratings every year or continue to be listed 48 out of 50 states by the Center for Transparency and Accountability. The Chancery Court's recent move towards arrogance and secretiveness have not served Delawareans or the millions of people who rely on the Court well. We hope they will heed this call."
