Coordinated Health Hospitals Receive Healthgrades 2019 Patient Safety Excellence Award

Coordinated Health and Dr. Emil DiIorio announced today that its hospitals have received the Healthgrades 2019 Patient Safety Excellence Award. This distinction places Coordinated Health's hospitals in Allentown and Bethlehem, Pa. among the top 10% of all short-term acute care hospitals reporting patient safety data as evaluated by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for information about physicians and hospitals.

It is the sixth consecutive year that one or both of Coordinated Health's hospitals have received this award dating back to 2014.

"Clinical quality and patient care is the highest priority for our organization and we are extremely pleased with this recognition," said Coordinated Health's Chief Executive Officer Dr. Emil DiIorio. "Our excellent record of safety is a testament to our strong medical and clinical staff who are at the forefront of care for our patients each and every day."

During the study period (2015 to 2017), Healthgrades 2019 Patient Safety Excellence Award recipient hospitals demonstrated excellent performance in safety provided for patients in the Medicare population, as measured by objective outcomes (risk-adjusted patient safety indicator rates) for 14 patient safety indicators defined by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

"Our physicians and nurses have a relentless focus on preventing complications by delivering the highest standards of care," said Christine Biege, Chief Nursing Office and Hospital Administrator at Coordinated Health. "Our advanced surgical protocols, combined with constant attention to infection prevention, speed patient recovery and result in surgical complication rates that are among the lowest in the country."

"We are proud to recognize the recipients of the 2019 Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award, which shines a spotlight on the hospitals that are preventing the occurrence of serious, potentially avoidable complications, for patients during their hospital stay," said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. "We applaud Coordinated Health's hospitals and their team's commitment to providing the best possible care for every patient."
