National Indigenous Peoples Day - Quebecers are invited to celebrate the age-old contribution of the Aboriginal peoples
MONTRÉAL, June 21, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - On this National Indigenous Peoples Day, Minister Responsible for Indigenous Affairs Sylvie D'Amours paid tribute to the age-old contribution of the Aboriginal communities to Québec's history. She also emphasized the importance of continuing to build bridges to foster knowledge and recognition of the First Nations and the Inuit. The government wishes to ensure Québec's prosperity in a spirit of mutual respect with the Aboriginal communities.
During a civic ceremony in Montréal and festivities organized for the occasion by Land InSights, Minister D'Amours invited Quebecers to take advantage of the day to learn about the 11 Aboriginal nations of Québec and the situation of the First Nations and the Inuit.
"It is important for me to emphasize National Indigenous Peoples Day, which reveals and enables us to appreciate the progress we have made in our relations, without overlooking what remains to be done. All of the 11 Aboriginal nations possess their own history, languages and traditions that are enriching Québec's cultural portrait. I invite everyone, today and throughout the year, to discover or rediscover the distinct, fascinating aspects of the First Nations and the Inuit of Québec."

Land InSights
Land InSights seeks to raise the profile of Aboriginal culture in Québec, more specifically in Montréal, through activities that include the Montréal First Peoples' Festival, which is held in August every year. Since 1995, the organization has been responsible for the organization in Montréal of festivities in conjunction with National Indigenous Peoples Day.
