37 Graduates of Blended and Online High School Programs Receive 2019 FBOL Scholarship Awards for College

CASTLE ROCK, Colo., June 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- 37 graduates of blended and online high school programs from 26 states will receive awards of up to $10,000 to support post-secondary study at a two-year, four-year, or vocational college. The Foundation for Blended and Online Learning (FBOL) received applications from 48 states and Puerto Rico, with students representing traditional public, charter, private, homeschool, parochial, and online schools. Award recipients are headed to a rich mix of institutions, including OSU's Agricultural Technical Institute, Yale, Ivy Tech, Glendale Community College, and MIT.

"Four years ago, this program began as a simple way to celebrate the success of students learning in new and different school environments," said Amy Valentine, FBOL's executive director. "From year one, however, it became the cornerstone of FBOL's work to support the growth of blended and online learning through the sharing of student and teacher experiences. Getting to know our scholarship award winners and their families is a spark of inspiration that sustains the foundation's passion throughout the year."

Since 2016, FBOL has awarded financial support to 133 students in 40 states and Puerto Rico. Applicants have represented each of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and several military posts throughout the world.

"Our partnership with FBOL on their annual scholarship program has been rewarding on many levels," said Linda Zuhlsdorf, Lead Program Manager at Scholarship America. "Not only have we been exposed to a pioneering group of students from innovative schools, building the scholarship process to match their unique experiences has helped us expand our thinking about evaluation metrics and success."

A directory of scholarship recipients, student videos from each year, in-depth profiles, and updates about FBOL's 2020 scholarship program can be accessed on the foundation's website, https://www.blendedandonlinelearning.org/.
