Data Theorem Selected to Present on Protecting Data in Real-World Microservices at 23rd International Cloud Expo

Data Theorem, Inc., a leading provider of modern application security, today announced it has been selected to present on protecting data in real-world microservices at the 23rd International Cloud Expo next week.

Alban Diquet, Data Theorem's head of engineering, will present "Serverless vs Containers: A Case Study of Building and Securing Real-World Microservices" on June 26 at 3:40 pm PDT at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif. For more information, see https://cloudexpo2019.sched.com/event/KvtE.

Amazon, Google, and Microsoft are pushing serverless with claims it is easier and cheaper for customers. At the same time, there has been a rapid adoption of container technologies and orchestrators (such as Kubernetes), with similar promises of faster, cheaper deployments at unprecedented scale. As the size and cost of Data Theorem's cloud infrastructure increased, it implemented a backend component powering one of its biggest products using both serverless and containers. The goal was to compare these technologies in terms of security, scalability, time-to-market, ease-of-use, and overall cost. Attendees of this session will discover this project's findings in terms of benefits and downsides of each technology, and how to deploy, use, and secure them in the context of a real-world application.

Data Theorem's API Discover and API Inspect together address security concerns such as Shadow APIs, Serverless Applications, and API Gateway cross-check validation by conducting continuous security assessments on API authentication, authorization, encryption, availability, cloud storage, databases, serverless functions, and policy compliance. The API security solutions support Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure to discover modern APIs and to enumerate the specification using standards such as Swagger and Open API 3.0.
