Altruista's Mobile Clinician App Wins 2019 Award in mHealth

RESTON, Va., June 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Altruista Health, an innovative provider of care management technology solutions for health plans and provider organizations, today said its GuidingCare® Mobile Clinician app was named the 2019 Best Overall mHealth Solution in the MedTech Breakthrough awards program, which recognizes top companies and solutions in the global health and medical technology market.

"When it comes to wider access to care and overall improved health options for patients and providers, mobile health is certainly one of the most exciting developments in the field of digital health technology in the past several years," said James Johnson, managing director, MedTech Breakthrough. "Altruista built an incredibly powerful patient-centric model of care management through the GuidingCare platform, and the extension of that platform to a mobile application is a breakthrough accomplishment."

Judges chose Mobile Clinician from 52 entries in the mHealth category based on innovation, differentiation and design. They weighed the "breakthrough" qualities of the solutions, as well as their real-world results and potential impact for users. Mobile Clinician allows field clinicians using iOS and Windows tablets to meet health plan members in their homes or community settings to capture demographic data, conduct health assessments, build care and service plans, make referrals to social services and obtain member consent and signatures.

The app allows clinicians to perform care management functions on- or offline on mobile devices. This is especially valuable in serving areas without dependable internet service and where members are often most in need of healthcare interventions. The Mobile Clinician app automatically syncs to Altruista's GuidingCare platform without data loss when internet service again becomes available. Mobile Clinician was enhanced in 2018 with a Google Maps function to help field clinicians plan their routes, an especially helpful feature when health workers visit members in remote and rural areas.

"We are delighted to have Mobile Clinician recognized for bringing care management to people who often face steep barriers in accessing basic healthcare and social supports," said Altruista Chief Executive Officer Ashish Kachru. "This is where technology enables the human touch in healthcare and leads to better health outcomes for members regardless of geography."

The mission of the MedTech Breakthrough Awards is to honor excellence and recognize innovation, hard work and success in a range of health and medical technology categories, including mHealth, robotics, clinical administration, telehealth, patient engagement, electronic health records, medical devices, medical data and many more. This year's program attracted more than 3,500 nominations from 15+ countries.
