First Major Professional Sporting Team To Be Sponsored By CBD Hemp Company At Indy 500

INDIANAPOLIS, May 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Craft 1861, a leading provider of hemp cannabidiol (CBD), will make sports history as the first CBD industry sponsor of a major professional team to race at next weekend's Indianapolis 500.

The company's sponsorship of the Carlin IndyCar race team at the most widely attended motorsports race in the world is the culmination of a collaboration going back many months and constitutes a groundbreaking advance for the burgeoning CBD industry, whose clients include athletes of all kinds attracted by the product's health benefits.

CBD hemp products, unlike THC-based cannabinoids, are non-psychoactive.

Craft 1861 first sponsored the Carlin IndyCar race team and its drivers in an off season test in 2019 at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA).

"We are thrilled to partner with Carlin and IndyCar for North America's most important motorsports race," said Eric Lujan, Co-Founder and Principal of Craft 1861. "Our company is proud to be the first CBD company in Indy and sports history to sponsor a team."

Lujan continued, "we offer CBD hemp products to those focused on wellness and a healthy lifestyle, which is a perfect match for the rising millennial Indy fan."

Craft 1861 launched in 2017 with a high-quality CBD hemp product line developed through pioneering data-driven research to appeal to a broad swath of consumers interested in the product's health benefits.

"We are extremely proud to be able to work with a new brand to INDYCAR," said Trevor Carlin, Team Principal of Carlin. "As a young team to the NTT IndyCar Series we are learning and expanding quickly. To have the backing of Craft 1861, also expanding quickly in a developing industry is very exciting. Hopefully this is the start of a long relationship with Craft 1861."

Carlin started its second full-time season in the NTT DATA IndyCar Series in 2019.

Carlin are one of the largest teams outside Formula 1 with race winning experience in a variety of championships including British F3, Porsche Supercup, World Series by Nissan, Formula Renault 3.5, A1GP, FIA Formula 3 European Championship, GP3 Series and GP2 Series.

Craft 1861 has plans to sponsor an IndyCar team for the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series.

Craft 1861 is a nationwide CBD product and lifestyle brand based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Though its sustainable farming partners, the company produces all natural, 100% pure, Zero THC CBD products for the new cannabis consumer. It leads the industry in rigorous ISO and USP certified testing that exceed WADA anti-doping testing standards which allow for trusted use of its products by civil service employees, licensed medical professionals, professional athletes, and other tested individuals. Craft 1861 was founded in 2017 and is a privately held company.
