30 years of supporting kids - Parmalat Canada celebrates 30 years of partnership with Kids Help Phone

TORONTO, May 16, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Parmalat Canada is proud to call itself a Founding Partner of Kids Help Phone. On this day in 1989, Kids Help Phone was launched as a phone line for youth experiencing abuse. At the time, Ault Foods (now Parmalat Canada) recognized there was a lack of resources offered to young people in the country. Alongside three other partners, a unique telephone counselling service was launched to provide accessible, free support to any young person reaching out, anywhere in the country. Thanks to Kids Help Phone's number on Parmalat Canada products, young people in Canada can find out that help is only a phone call, text or click away. Throughout the years, the service has become available on a chat platform and as of recently, through a texting service.

Parmalat Canada is committed to the health and wellness of all Canadians, whether by providing high-quality, nutritious food products to consumers, or by improving the lives of Canadians through our support of Kids Help Phone and various other local community initiatives.

In the past 30 years, Parmalat Canada is proud to say it has raised through its employees and donated over 4.2 million dollars.

"Canadians are at the heart of our business. We are a family business with deep-rooted community values. Each day, we provide healthy, nutritious, tasty products that contribute to people's well-being. This includes the often overlooked but very important role of great food in creating occasions that bring people together.   When I arrived in Canada in August 2018, I was shocked to discover how serious the issue of mental health was, the scale of the problem and how it manifests itself with so many young people resorting to taking their own lives. It's important for us to have a positive social impact and make sure Kids Help Phone remains open and available for all youth in Canada in any moment of need or crisis," stated Mark Taylor, President & CEO, Parmalat Canada.

"For 30 incredible years, Parmalat Canada's dedicated support continues to ensure that Kids Help Phone's services are always open for the thousands of young people who connect with our services every day," said Katherine Hay, President & CEO, Kids Help Phone. "Together, we can profoundly improve the mental health and well-being of young people in Canada. We must show up for youth ? they need us now more than ever."

Parmalat Canada will continue to support Kids Help Phone in the coming years to make sure the organization remains available and continues to evolve over time.
