The Government of Canada supports the Wakefield Writers Festival des écrivains La Pêche

WAKEFIELD, QC, May 13, 2019 /CNW/ - The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, announced an investment of $22,100 in the Wakefield Writers Festival des écrivains La Pêche today.  

This includes $2100 in funding from the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program for the 2019-2020 season. It also includes $20,000 from the Community Support, Multiculturalism, and Anti-Racism Initiatives Program.

The completion of this project will provide regional artists, artisans, and performers with opportunities to get involved in their community.

The Wakefield Writers Festival des écrivains La Pêche will be held May 23­?26, 2019.

This festival is a renowned bilingual event highlighting the originality and cultural diversity of our arts and literary scene, which includes Indigenous, French Canadian, English Canadian, and many other voices.

The Comic as Classic with Jay Odjick as well as Parlons théâtre with Jean Marc Dalpé, are two of the featured events at this year's festival.

The Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program gives local artists and artisans, heritage performers, and specialists more opportunities to engage with their communities through festivals, cultural events, and projects. The program also gives local groups the opportunity to celebrate their region's history and heritage.

The Community Support, Multiculturalism, and Anti-Racism Initiatives Program supports the mandate of Canadian Heritage in encouraging a diverse and inclusive society.
