OSTA Celebrates Reforms Aimed at Boosting the Skilled Trades
TORONTO, May 3, 2019 /CNW/ - In celebration of Education Week in Ontario, the Ontario Skilled Trades Alliance (OSTA) is recognizing the Government of Ontario's commitment to modernizing the apprenticeship and skilled trades system.
"In today's fast changing work world, a modern, flexible skilled trades system is a must," said Patrick McManus, Chair of the Ontario Skilled Trades Alliance (OSTA). "We're delighted this government has made it a priority to find innovative ways of better equipping young people for jobs of the future."
The OSTA is committed to working with government and industry to help close the gap between the skills people have and those employers need. The OSTA is also focused on helping to make more young people aware of the tremendous career possibilities in the skilled trades.
The Ontario Skilled Trades Alliance represents companies that employ over 400,000 skilled tradespeople across Ontario who build transit, hospitals, bridges and homes and provide professional and personal services like hair-styling and automotive repair. OSTA members are united by the common goal of closing the skills gap in Ontario.
