VET TEC Now Available at Code Platoon

CHICAGO, April 24, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Code Platoon, a Chicago-based nonprofit software development bootcamp for U.S. veterans and military spouses, has been approved for VET TEC by the Department of Veterans Affairs. VET TEC, Veteran Employment Through Technology Education Courses, is a 5-year pilot program with a goal to give veterans the high-tech skills sought by today's top employers so they can acquire meaningful employment. Code Platoon is now accepting applications for VET TEC students, with enrollment in our September 2019 cohort.

VET TEC pairs veterans with industry-leading training providers to help them acquire new skills to enter the job market or enhance their business acumen. VET TEC is designed to ensure veterans' successful completion of the program all the way to the point of finding new jobs, running their own companies, or advancing in their current high-tech careers. Veterans who have one day or more of their GI BIll benefits left are eligible to apply for VET TEC. Approved students will have their full tuition paid for and receive their housing allowance.

Code Platoon's program is focused on the military community and provides a supportive learning environment, coupled with industry leading apprenticeships, to maximize the likelihood of successfully transitioning to a new career as a software developer. Veterans and military spouses can participate in-person through our Chicago classroom or remotely from anywhere in the world.

"VET TEC approval will help us grow our class sizes and allow more veterans to become software development professionals," said Rodrigo Levy, Code Platoon's executive director. "This seal of approval from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs shows we are continuing to cement ourselves as the leader in software development education for veterans. VET TEC is an excellent way for veterans who are interested in software development but are short on GI Bill benefits, or would rather save their benefits for college, to complete Code Platoon and secure that new career."
