Statement by the Prime Minister on the results of the provincial election in Prince Edward Island
OTTAWA, April 23, 2019 /CNW/ - The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, issued the following statement today on the results of the provincial election in Prince Edward Island:
"Islanders have chosen to elect a minority government led by the Progressive Conservative Party of Prince Edward Island.
"On behalf of the Government of Canada, I offer my congratulations to Dennis King who will have the honour and privilege to serve as Premier of this beautiful province.
"Known for its red beaches and rich farmland and fisheries, Prince Edward Island has a long and proud heritage, and continues to play an important role in the Atlantic region.
"I look forward to working with the provincial government through the Atlantic Growth Strategy to create jobs for middle class Canadians and more opportunities for young people. Together, we will continue to foster stable and long term growth, while protecting the environment and combatting climate change.
"I also thank Wade MacLauchlan for his years of service as Premier."
