Spring Freshet - The urban agglomeration of Montréal is launching its emergency response plan

MONTRÉAL, April 18, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Having analyzed the rising water levels that are particularly affecting the western portion of the island, the urban agglomeration of Montréal has rolled out its emergency response plan in the following boroughs and related municipalities: Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Pierrefonds?Roxboro, L'Île-Bizard?Sainte-Geneviève, Rivière-des-Prairies?Pointe-aux-Trembles, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Village de Senneville, Pointe?Claire and Montréal-Nord.

"This past April 15th, as we were raising our level of mobilization to "alert", teams from the boroughs and related municipalities concerned began setting up dams and installing inflatable storm drain plugs in the island's most vulnerable sectors. At this time, several dams are already in place, and although weather forecasts suggest the likelihood of flooding, our teams are ready to act accordingly, in order to ensure the safety of our population, which remains our top priority," said Bruno Lachance, director of the Service de sécurité civile de Montréal.

All actors of the Organisation de sécurité civile de l'agglomération de Montréal (OSCAM) are currently keeping a very close eye on the situation and are working to secure strategic locations.
