McHappy Day® goes fashion forward with new Peace Collective partnership

Canadians encouraged to help keep families together by pledging to participate using #MyPledge

TORONTO, April 18, 2019 /CNW/ - For the first time ever, McDonald's® Canada is partnering with homegrown Canadian brand, Peace Collective, as the exclusive designers of the McHappy Day® x Peace Collective collection.

The partnership officially kicks off the start of the company's 26th annual McHappy Day, a one-day celebration in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities® Canada (RMHC®) and other local children's charities. This year, McHappy Day is Wednesday, May 8th.

For the debut of this partnership, Peace Collective has designed the McHappy Day x Peace Collective collection that includes limited-edition t-shirts, socks, mugs and tote bags. Guests can purchase the exclusive pieces at participating restaurants on McHappy Day. All proceeds from the sale of the McHappy Day x Peace Collective collection will go to RHMC and children's charities nationwide.

McDonald's Canada is also encouraging Canadians to make a public pledge to participate in advance of McHappy Day by using #McHappyDay and #MyPledge. Canadians can pledge to purchase a Big Mac®, Happy Meal® or hot McCafé® beverage for themselves, friends, family or colleagues on May 8th.

On McHappy Day, $1 from every Big Mac, Happy Meal and hot McCafé beverage sold helps families and children across Canada. Guests who can't make it into a restaurant on McHappy Day but want to contribute can order McHappy Day menu items through McDelivery with Uber Eats and SkipTheDishes where available.

Quotes:

"We want to inspire as many people as we can to participate this year and are ecstatic about our partnership with Peace Collective to help us create an even bigger wave of support," said Michelle McIlmoyle, Senior National Marketing Manager, McDonald's Restaurants of Canada. "Along with the new swag collection, we want to tap into the goodwill of Canadians from coast-to-coast to make their own public pledge, as every pledge can inspire others to help families stay together while their child is being treated at a nearby hospital."

"It's truly an honour to partner with McDonald's and RMHC for McHappy Day," says Yanal Dhailieh, Founder, Peace Collective. "Giving back is in our DNA so we are thrilled to get the chance to design this exclusive collection and bring our joint vision of helping families in need to life."

About Ronald McDonald House Charities® Canada (RMHC® CANADA)
In Canada, 65 per cent of families live outside a city with a children's hospital, and must travel for treatment if their child is seriously ill. The RMHC network of programs in Canada helps to keep more than 25,000 families close to their sick child and the care they need each year. The 15 Ronald McDonald Houses provide out-of-town families with a home to stay at while their child is being treated at a nearby hospital, while the 16 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms provide a comfortable place for families to rest and recharge, right inside hospitals. Through the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, basic medical care is available to underserved communities in Alberta.
