PRESS CONFERENCE DRC Electoral Independent Commission | 2018 DRC Elections & The Way Forward

WASHINGTON, April 17, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- January 24th, 2019, marked the first peaceful transfer of power in the history of the Democratic Republic of the Congo since its independence in June 30th, 1960. This democratic peaceful transition of power was an important milestone subscribed in the long historical struggle of the establishment and enforcement of the rule of law and quality governance in the DRC.  And while the December 30th, 2018 elections were characterized by shortcomings?but yet,  they announced hope for the future of the DRC toward a stable and prosperous country to be a role model of democracy in Central Africa and beyond. Yes, a lot remain to be done?and the task ahead toward the reformation of the Congolese Electoral National Independent Commission is enormous.

The Congo Electoral Independence Commission, which played a decisive role in this Congo election, would like to invite you at the National Press Club, this Thursday, April 18th, from 12:30pm to 2pm, to share the inside challenges, opportunities, stories  and perspectives of the December 2018 electoral process?but also,  on how to reform the electoral commission to better prepare future elections and the way forward.
