IBC congratulates the United Conservative Party on Election

Looks forward to collaborating on a sustainable auto insurance system

EDMONTON, April 17, 2019 /CNW/ - Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) congratulates Premier-elect Jason Kenney and his United Conservative Party (UCP) colleagues as they form a new majority government in Alberta.

Insurance Bureau of Canada (CNW Group/Insurance Bureau of Canada)

"On behalf of IBC and its members, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Mr. Kenney and to all Members of the Legislative Assembly who prevailed in yesterday's election," said Celyeste Power, Vice-President, Western, IBC. "We look forward to working together with the new government on the challenges with the current auto insurance system and the opportunity to build a sustainable system for the future."

Alberta consumers are facing significant issues with auto insurance. Local brokers and agents are also feeling the impacts of the issues in the system and this is affecting communities across the province.

There is a great opportunity for government, industry and all stakeholders to work together to provide more choice, innovation and customization for drivers across the province. This work will also help ensure that Albertans can continue to find affordable and available auto insurance.

Power added, "Drivers deserve a better auto insurance system with more choice and innovation. The province needs a system that is sustainable in the long term for the 3 million drivers and countless businesses that rely on auto insurance each and every day. It's time for change."
