Italy pays a summer visit to Estrie


The Government of Canada supports the Orford Music Festival

ORFORD, QC, April 16, 2019 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada is supporting diverse festivals that allow Canadians to enjoy enriching artistic experiences in their own communities.

Today, the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, announced $65,000 in funding for the Orford Music Festival in support of the 2019 festival.

This investment is being made through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund. It will help the festival provide audiences with a rich program of classical and jazz music performances featuring both internationally renowned artists as well as emerging musical talent.

Quick Facts

The Orford Music Festival is a world-class event attracting nearly 25,000 festival-goers annually to the Orford Music site as well as 12 Estrie municipalities.

The theme of the 2019 edition is Italy. It includes four exhibitions of original works as well as three culinary events featuring renowned Italian chefs.

The program will include two opening concerts with the renowned Marc-André Hamelin and a concert by Andrew Wan and Charles Richard-Hamelin, who will perform Beethoven's Piano Sonatas Volume 2. The Orford Music Award, featuring 12 of the academy's top trainees, will return and a host of free concerts and events will be offered, including the fifth edition of Family Day.

The Canada Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF) provides financial assistance to organizations that professionally present arts festivals or performing arts series (arts presenters) and organizations that offer support to arts presenters.
