Parent of Those Lost To the Opioid Crisis Demand Removal of Sackler Name From Harvard Museum in Protest Friday

BOSTON, April 11, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On Friday, April 12 at the Arthur M Sackler Museum at Harvard University at 485 Broadway, Cambridge MA 02138 at 12 noon, Team Sharing, Inc., a National advocacy group made up of parents who have lost a child to opioid overdose will convene a protest to demand removal of the Sackler name from any public space. The event includes multiple advocacy groups whose agenda is to remove the Sackler name and was organized and lead by Team Sharing Inc., founder Cheryl Juaire and Rhonda Lotti. Juaire lost her son Corey Merrill in 2011 to an overdose and Lotti lost her daughter Mariah in 2011 to the same. Juaire and Lotti have organized parents everywhere to bond together in support as they grapple with grief and loss. Friday's action was the latest in a series of advocacy efforts designed to raise awareness and seek recourse.

Additional groups participating were The Voices Project, lead by national advocate Ryan Hampton, as well as artist Nan Goldin's group P.A.I.N. which has lead protests around the country at museums like the Guggenheim. Also present was the Opioid Spoon Project lead by artist Domenic Esposito who dropped an enormous sculpture of a heroin spoon at the headquarters of the Sackler's company, Purdue Pharma. Advocacy Group Recovery Reform Now was also part of the effort.
