Lifewater International Funds 50th Village Water Project Via Innovative Giving Platform

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., March 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Lifewater International (Lifewater), a nonprofit Christian clean water organization, has successfully funded its 50th village water project in just four months through an innovative giving platform, bringing clean water and improved health to hard-to-reach communities in Ethiopia, Cambodia, and Uganda.

Lifewater has:

• Launched a specialized giving platform that allows donors to give to specific villages rather than a general fund.
• Reaches next generation givers; connects every donor more meaningfully to gift.
• Reports on project milestones as the village gets closer to achieving safe water and improved health; features real-time data, mapping technology, and interaction with Lifewater field staff.
• Includes social sharing and mobile functionality.
• Seen a 45 percent year over year increase in online giving.
• Seen giving total more than $6.1 million in Fiscal Year 2018, a 60 percent increase over Fiscal Year 2017.
• Created lasting change in the communities they serve. 92 percent of the wells Lifewater has built over the past 10 years are still operational, compared to the 30 to 40 percent average failure rates of wells in sub-Saharan Africa, according to Lifewater figures based on water points drilled in northern Uganda between 2007-2015 and estimates made by the Rural Water Supply Network.
• In Fiscal Year 2018, served 117,725 total people, creating 11,492 healthy homes, 124 healthy villages, and 1,011 Water Access, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) influencers. 146 total water sources were completed.
• At the close of 2018, served a total of 151,471 people across more than 400 villages, an increase of 30 percent over the previous year. Lifewater completed 163 village and school water projects.
• Been recognized for its transparency with donors by becoming the first organization to receive both "Best Annual Report" and "Best CEO Letter" in one year from Counsel & Capital, an organization that seeks to bridge the gap between donors and charities using biblical principles, powerful communication, and the highest standard of transparency.
• Is operating on a $7 million budget this year and plans to be active in more than 600 villages by year end.

The giving platform was funded by the 4K Foundation, founded by Brian Rogers, a Baltimore area philanthropist.
