MIAMI, March 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf), announced today it is 100 days out from the kickoff of the 2019 Gold Cup, the confederation's official national championship, which celebrates the region's culture and crowns the best team of North, Central America and the Caribbean.
The 2019 Gold Cup will be the biggest edition in tournament history, with more participating nations (16 up from 12 in 2017), more host countries (three, including first-time matches in Costa Rica and a yet-to-be-named Caribbean nation), and more stadiums (17 up from 14 in 2017, eight of which are in contention to become a 2026 FIFA World Cup venue).
To celebrate 100 Days until the start of the 2019 Gold Cup, organizers are launching a limited-edition Friends & Family 4-Pack special for $100. Tickets will be available for a limited time, pending availability in each city.
The golden trophy will be lifted by the winner of the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup ? the official national team championship of the region that will feature some of the top players of North and Central America and the Caribbean. Drawing large crowds and millions of television viewers from across the region, the Gold Cup is a celebration of soccer, sportsmanship, and culture.
To date, six of the 16 national teams have qualified for next year's tournament, those being the countries that participated in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Hexagonal qualifier round: Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United States. The other 10 nations will qualify for the Gold Cup via the Concacaf Nations League Qualifier, with the final round taking place during the March FIFA match fixtures.
The 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup is sponsored by Allstate Insurance Company, Cerveza Modelo, Nike, Scotiabank, Sprint, and Toyota. The tournament will be broadcast nationally on the Univision and FOX family of networks and transmitted on radio in Spanish by Fútbol de Primera Radio Network, and broadcast by television partners in over 180 countries around the world.
