US Sports Camps Adds Short Game-Specific Golf Camp in Louisville, Kentucky

SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Feb. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- US Sports Camps (USSC) has added an advanced short game instructional camp in Louisville, KY for tournament-level juniors looking to improve from 125 yards and in. The coaching staff, led by two DI college coaches in Whitney Wade Young (University of Louisville) and Jon Whithaus (Duke University), have collaborated to create an intensive two-night, three-day program to help juniors lower their scores. Golf activities take place at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, KY, home of the UofL varsity golf teams.

"The USSC short game network has flourished the last several years and provided serious tournament players with incredible, hands-on instruction with some of the best in the game," says Nicholas Brunner, vice president of US Sports Camps. "Coach Whithaus has assisted in targeting prominent college brands/coaches and golf facilities to host these programs. Whitney's resume speaks for itself and the UofL Golf Club is the ideal place for a short game program ? 22-acre practice facility, multi-tiered range and seven practice greens. Our offering in Louisville follows the same successful model as Jon's other short game camps and we're excited to be advancing more kids with these high-level experiences."

Camp Co-Director, Whitney Wade Young, is the assistant women's golf coach at University of Louisville, a position she has held since 2017. It was announced in January that she will be promoted to head coach beginning in July of 2019. Whitney is a three-time National Golf Coaches Association All-American and four-time first team all-SEC honoree from her playing days at University of Georgia, where she later served as assistant coach for four seasons. Wade Young is one of the most decorated golfers from the state of Kentucky and she is primed to share her knowledge with young golfers.

"We are extremely excited to host an elite short game camp at the University of Louisville golf course," states Wade Young. "Short game is an essential part of the game to be a successful golfer and I look forward to sharing my experiences and teaching methods that I have learned and developed during my playing and coaching career."

The Louisville Advanced Short Game Camp is an overnight camp option for boys and girls, ages 12 ? 18. The camp runs from July 7 ? 9, 2019 and includes all golf activities, meals, housing and evening activities. Campers are housed at Hampton Inn in Simpsonville, a few minutes from the UofL Golf Club. There is also a commuter option available from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. which includes all elements aside from housing.

The curriculum consists of instructional groups with emphasis on short game, putting, pitching, bunker play and other scoring scenarios. A student-to-teacher ratio of 4:1 enables the coaches to work intimately with each camper. Other sessions include discussing long-term development, college golf, goal setting, practice habits, and tournament preparation.
