Agora Cyber Charter School Earns NCAA Clearinghouse Accreditations

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Feb. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has approved Agora Cyber Charter School for certification, granting the school clearance to maintain a list of NCAA-approved courses. This announcement now opens wonderful opportunities for Agora students seeking to compete athletically at Division 1 and 2 schools. The announcement comes on the heels of an effort by administrators to process multiple applications to ensure all Agora students do not have to choose between an academic setting that works for their needs or the sport that they want to pursue at a collegiate level.

"Agora's mission has always been to create an environment where our students can thrive not just academically, but in every aspect of their lives," said Dr. Michael Conti, CEO, Agora Cyber Charter School. "The flexibility of Agora's model allows students to participate in athletics whenever they need while maintaining academic excellence."

Students at Agora choose a non-traditional path through elementary and secondary education for a number of reasons. With the addition of NCAA eligibility, students who may need to seek alternative educational options are no longer restricted by the passion that they have for their sport.

Frank Nagy, High School Assistant Principal, took on this process because he believes it is crucial for his student athletes. "For our athletes who work tirelessly at their schoolwork and their sport, this is a huge win," said Nagy. "Our students are in constant communication with their teachers, having a direct line to them at all times, and the NCAA agreed, granting Agora this wonderful opportunity. This will also open up doors for the many students who have expressed interest but who were hindered due to personal goals in both academics and athletics."

Administrators and guidance counselors are available to assist any student looking to pursue athletics through the NCAA. Parents of athletes are encouraged to reach out to their family coach to learn more about the process and begin conversations about their student's future.

"We're incredibly proud of the work that was done in order to achieve this goal," continued Dr. Conti. "Assistant Principal Nagy worked tirelessly with the NCAA Eligibility Center to earn this certification, and our current and future students deserve this opportunity," said Dr. Conti.
