Quebec and Ottawa award nearly $780,000 to strengthen the export activities of businesses in the Montérégie-Est region


Support for regional export promotion organizations (ORPEXes)

MCMASTERVILLE, QC, Feb. 11, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The governments of Quebec and Canada will provide Expansion PME with $778,000 in renewed funding over the next three years to allow this regional export promotion organization (ORPEX) to continue assisting businesses in the Montérégie-Est region regarding the exporting and commercialization of their products and services on markets outside Quebec.

The announcement was made today by Simon Jolin-Barrette, Member of the National Assembly for Borduas, Minister of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion, and Parliamentary Leader of the Government, acting on behalf of Pierre Fitzgibbon, Minister of the Economy and Innovation; and Sherry Romanado, Member of Parliament for Longueuil?Charles-LeMoyne and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Seniors, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED).

Expansion PME will receive a non-repayable contribution of $360,000 from the Ministère de l'Économie et de l'Innovation (MEI) to carry out its export activities evaluated at nearly one million dollars. The assistance was granted through the Programme Exportation (PEX). CED has awarded a non?repayable contribution of $418,000 under its Quebec Economic Development Program.
