The Labor Connection is Chicago's Newest Union Labor Broker

CHICAGO, Jan. 14, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Labor Connection, LLC is pleased to announce that it will serve audio visual production companies and providers, meeting planners, and producers across the country by brokering union labor in Chicago for associations, conventions, trade shows, and live event industries.

Most of the biggest conference and event venues in Chicago require the use and hiring of various labor union workers, which can be a daunting task because of the complicated rules of each union. The Labor Connection will serve as a broker for the following unions: IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) Local 110 for projection and video, IATSE Local 2 for sound, lighting, and scenic set pieces, USW (United Steel Workers) Local 17 for set decorators, IBT (International Brotherhood of Teamsters) Local 727 for loading/unloading trucks and moving freight, UBCJ (Union Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners) Local 10 for on-site set construction and scenic set pieces, IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Local 1220 for camera and television broadcast engineers

"Our goal is to help audio visual production companies and providers, meeting planners, and producers navigate Union labor in Chicago" said John Paul (JP) Jones, owner of The Labor Connection. By outsourcing the task of hiring union labor to a labor broker, meeting planners and producers are free to spend more time on organizing the actual event.

Unions have many and varied rules related to calculating the number of workers required for specific tasks, as well as breaks, and shift length among other compliance issues.  As the signatory employer of the union laborers, The Labor Connection is responsible for payroll bonding, wages, benefits, and health and worker's compensation insurance. The Labor Connection reviews floorplans, equipment lists and schedules ahead of time and will identify jurisdiction of work, provide clarification of gray areas, and assist in avoiding penalties.

The Labor Connection is a Veteran owned business, member of the Event Safety Alliance, and is OSHA and ETCP certified.
