American Jewish Committee Mourns Passing of Moshe Arens
NEW YORK, Jan. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- AJC mourns the passing today of Moshe Arens, a longtime Israeli political leader and diplomat, at age 93.
Mr. Arens, born in Lithuania and raised and educated in the United States, immigrated to the new State of Israel in 1948. Possessing degrees in engineering from MIT and the California Institute of Technology, he played a key role in the development of Israel's aeronautical engineering industry. His election to the Knesset in 1974 on the Likud list launched a 25-year career in politics and government during which he held the post of Minister of Defense three separate times, and served as Foreign Minister and Ambassador to the United States.
