Death of a resident on statutory release with residency of the Community Correctional Centre Marcel-Caron


QUÉBEC CITY, Dec. 24, 2018 /CNW/ - On December 17, 2018, Mr. Daniel Labelle, a resident of the Community Correctional Center Marcel-Caron, died of natural causes at the Saint Sacrement Hospital in Quebec City, where he had been hospitalized since December 10. The medical reason for the death was known to Correctional Service Canada.

At the time of his death, Mr. Labelle, 61 years old, was serving a fourth 5-year and 6-month federal sentence since September 2014 for invitation to sexual touching, procurement of a person under the age of 18 for prostitution-related purposes, possession of child pornography, possession of substances for the purpose of trafficking, failure to comply and attempted crime.

He was on statutory release with residency since May 15, 2018 at the Community Correctional Center Marcel-Caron.

He had been declared a long-term offender for a period of 10 years.

The offender's relatives were informed of his death.
