Metro Toronto Convention Centre Unveils Holiday Windows that Celebrate Diversity, Fight Hunger

TORONTO, Dec. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ - The Metro Toronto Convention Centre kicked off the festive season with the unveiling of their first-ever holiday windows. The impactful installation will showcase the work of 8 local artists whose pieces will be auctioned off at the end of the season with all proceeds going to Toronto's Daily Bread Food Bank.

The window installation, which is located along the Front Street entrance of the MTCC, showcases each artist's depiction of the holidays and reflects the cultural, ethnic and denominational backgrounds that make up the city of Toronto.

"We are proud to celebrate diversity and give back to our community this holiday season," says Lorenz Hassenstein, General Manager at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. "We hope to see many come out and witness the talented artist's works and participate in the auction which is for this great cause."

The holiday season can be challenging for individuals who simply can't keep up with the rising costs of food and housing. The funds raised will help Daily Bread Food Bank continue to make a difference in the lives of those in the community who face food insecurity. The charitable organization supplies food to nearly 200 food programs across Toronto.

"The giving season is a time to reflect on the well-being of our neighbours and the community at large," says Neil Hetherington, CEO of the Daily Bread Food Bank. "Through this partnership, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre is playing a critical role in shinning a light on issues that matter the most."

"The holiday installation was inspired by our commitment to make a positive impact in our community and to bring holiday cheer to Toronto. MTCC is more than a convention and trade show facility, we're also a committed neighbour serving the communities where we live and do business," added Hassenstein.

The large holiday-themed pieces will be on display from December 10th through until January 14th and will be auctioned to the public online here https://www.givergy.ca/mtccart4to from December 10th  through to the 23rd.  To learn more, please visit www.mtccc.com/MTCCArt4TO.
