STL and exo earn a CUTA award for the Forum on mobility and public transit

Corporate Leadership Award ? Marketing and Communications

LAVAL, QC, Nov. 21, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - This morning, CUTA presented its Corporate Leadership Award in the Marketing and Communications category to the Société de transport de Laval (STL) and exo for their Forum on mobility and public transit. The ceremony, attended by representatives from across the Canadian urban transit industry, was part of (Canadian Urban Transit Association) CUTA's Annual Conference and Transit Show, which ends today in Toronto. On hand to accept the award were Nicolas Girard, STL Senior Director of Communications and Public Affairs, and Benoît Lavigne, exo's Executive Director of Performance and Customer Experience. This prestigious recognition salutes the creation of an unprecedented collective of 19 municipalities spanning Laval and the Lower Laurentians, initiated by the City of Laval and supported by the STL and exo. All joined forces to organize a one-day forum in Laval last April 23,  focused on assessing traffic concerns on the North Shore and tabling solution ideas.

Major concerns raised
The main issues discussed during the event and shared by all the municipalities in attendance were:  demographic growth outpacing that of Québec as a whole, rapid economic growth, endemic traffic problems coupled with underinvestment in transit infrastructure. The forum concluded with a joint declaration by the members of the group and recommended solutions for reducing traffic and improving the quality of life of citizens. Namely, the rollout of an integrated public transit network predicated on a network of reserved lanes, the addition of a heavy rail system in Laval (subway or REM) and of express bus corridors in Laval. About the Société de transport de Laval (STL)
The STL develops and operates an integrated network consisting of buses, school transport, shared taxis, and paratransit transport which together combine for 22+ million trips per year. The STL's regular bus network consists of 46 routes, some 2,700 stops and covers over 1,400 kilometres across the Laval territory. The STL is among the most innovative transit authorities in North America, thanks to initiatives such as being the first in Québec to operate a 100% electric 40-foot bus (2013) , and the STL Passenger Information Display System (PIDS), which has been providing passengers with real-time bus arrival information since 2010. Since 2017, the STL has been accepting credit cards on some of its buses as part of a pilot project.  In 2017, the STL launched its Quality Commitment Program, the only customer service pledge of its kind in Canada.
