Peerfit Breaks into Consumer Market with Latest Expansion

TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Peerfit, the digital health company which has become the market leader in connecting employers and carriers with flexible fitness experiences, announced today it is breaking into the consumer market with a pay-as-you-go subscription for consumers to access their favorite studios and gyms in 46 states.

This comes on the heels of major support from high-profile investors, Jeff Vinik and Wyc Grousbeck, who recognized the potential for Peerfit to change how people ? and corporations? approach fitness.

"Last year Peerfit set out to redefine wellness and we are happy to continue to be the leader with employers and their employees across the country," said Peerfit CEO, Ed Buckley, III, Ph.D. "Corporate wellness was stale. As we disrupted that space, it was demonstrated to us that Peerfitters' friends and families wanted to join them. While we got employers and carriers to sponsor fitness visits for employees, consumer options were confusing and complicated for use with models changing every few months. We wanted to help redefine wellness for the consumers with a model that is simple to understand and actually built for them."

For a low monthly subscription fee of $8.95 a month, consumers then have the ability to choose the amount of credits they wish to purchase through a pay-as-you-go system at negotiated competitive rates. Peerfit users can access their favorite fitness studios and gyms, all under one account.

Peerfit is piloting the foundation of their direct to consumer model with plans to grow the platform with the consumer in mind. Unlike their competitors, Peerfit has no limitations on classes - no blackout dates or price hikes for your favorite classes or time slots. Users can sign up for classes when they want without worrying about unused credits being wasted at the end of each month, or complicated rollover deadlines.

The Peerfit network grew 800% in 2017 and is currently in 46 states, making it easy to keep your fitness habit going even when traveling or in smaller metro cities. Peerfit expects to more than double their network during the first half of 2019 with some key partnerships.

"Peerfit was started so that employees had a wellness program they could use with their co-workers, hence the "Peer" in Peerfit. Our community asked us to expand beyond enterprise health," said Buckley. "With our direct to consumer model, your friends and family members are able to join you in your classes and at the gym. This is your flexible fitness app and we can't wait to see where you take it."

Ready for the flexible fitness model that works for you? Sign up for Peerfit here. Once you sign up, be sure to download the Peerfit mobile app on iOS and Android to reserve classes and invite friends on-the-go.
