Celebrating the Holidays With Loved Ones Includes Celebrating With Friends Too, Says FEBC

SAN RAMON, Calif., Nov. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- There are over 55 unique holidays from November through January. These holidays all have important meanings, even if some are more lighthearted than others, and give people a chance to slow down and think about things other than work. They're often emphasized as a great time to get together with loved ones. But the holiday time can be lonely for those who feel they don't have anyone to spend the holidays with. Financial Education Benefits Center (FEBC), a membership benefits company, says that eating good food and enjoying some company is a great way to promote personal wellness in a wholesome way.

"The holidays can be super fun or they can be super stressful because of all the work that goes into making them great. They might be both fun and stressful, but there usually isn't an in between," said Jennifer Martinez, manager at FEBC.

Celebrating the holidays doesn't necessarily have to revolve around being with family or a romantic partner. Spending time with friends can be just as important and fulfilling, and may even be less stressful. Staying in town to celebrate with friends gets rid of the stress of traveling and maybe even helps avoid the dreaded political conversations back with family. For those without somewhere to go back to, opening up the doors and hosting their own holiday event can help shrug off the cold the winter holidays might bring. Even if someone does have family they'd love to visit, it may just not be practical to see them.

Having a friends-based get-together is a great way to have a fulfilling but less stressful holiday season. FEBC offers its members discounts on everyday items like groceries to make feeding everyone more affordable and offers access to a non-emergency 24-hour nurse hotline in case something goes wrong during the festivities. "We strive to offer relevant discounts to our members to help them work towards personal and financial wellness when they need it," said Martinez.
