Transformative Nursing Home Comes To Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- A revolutionary new model of skilled nursing and rehabilitative care is coming to Las Vegas.  Known as the GREEN HOUSE® project, a multimillion dollar, 47,000 square foot development is set to break ground on December 4th.  The Villas at Centennial Hills will be built on 5 acres at the corner of Fort Apache and West Tropical Parkway.  The Villas is an entirely reimagined nursing home with 6 villas, featuring private bedrooms/bathrooms and a co-living kitchen, dining room, living room and outdoor spaces.  The Green House project is a nationally recognized, evidence based organization working to deinstitutionalize nursing home care.  The Villas at Centennial Hills will be the first of it's kind in the State of Nevada.

Chief Executive Officer Michele Goldman, who has operated 25 skilled nursing facilities in Texas, says, "I have witnessed firsthand the limitations of the traditional institutional style nursing home. We can and should be doing so much better for our loved ones. I am excited and proud to be bringing the first Green House model nursing homes to the State of Nevada, beginning with our new Centennial Hills location. We expect construction to be completed in 2019."

Research has shown that Green House homes offer improved quality of life and emotional well-being, along with improved quality of care, versus the traditional nursing homes. Las Vegas will be one of only a few hundred in the United States, with another 200 in development throughout the country. That compares with more than 16,000 nursing homes across the nation housing over 1.4 million people.

Julie Kotchevar, Administrator of the State Department of Public and Behavioral Health said, "I am very excited to finally see this innovative model come to this state. The Green House model has already demonstrated in other states, that they can provide for better health outcomes for residents while operating in a setting that doesn't resemble an institution."

County Commissioner, Larry Brown, who was instrumental in bringing this concept to Las Vegas said, "The Green House Community brings innovation to Senior Care, Skilled Nursing, and Rehabilitation.  This concept creates a true family home environment which complements our unique Rural Neighborhood Preservation area in the Northwest Valley."
