Author Thomas Heerema's New Book "A Guilty Affliction" is a Philosophical Investigation of the Nature of Selfhood

WAYLAND, Mass., Nov. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Thomas Heerema, a Neuroscience major at Boston University, has completed his new book "A Guilty Affliction": a novel that wonders if we are the sum of our memories.

"I began writing this novel when I was sixteen, and continued work on it into my junior year of college," Thomas Heerema said of his writing process. "And although I don't imagine myself pursuing writing as a career, I will continue to develop my writing skills for future projects."

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Thomas Heerema's novel incorporates a non-linear narrative, playing with the concepts of cohesion and chronology, in order to give a more accurate impression of what the main character, Matthew, must be going through after surviving being struck by a drunk driver.

In the following two weeks, the pain in Matthew's stomach and head grows worse. Regarding his lack of memory from before the crash, curiosity turns to frustration, which turns to anger, which turns to obsession. As his condition worsens, Matt regrettably touches his family with his own physical and psychological distress, tainting his relationships with them.

Readers who wish to read this mind-bending work can purchase "A Guilty Affliction" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
