Great Hill Partners Expands Operating Partner Program to Advance Portfolio Company Collaboration


BOSTON, Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Great Hill Partners, LLC, a leading growth-oriented private equity firm, today announced the expansion of its operating partner program with the hiring of Jesse Hertzberg and Michael Thompson as Operating Partners. Hertzberg and Thompson will work collaboratively with Great Hill investment teams and portfolio company management to execute and optimize their growth strategies.

Hertzberg is a lifelong technologist with a proven record of driving profitable growth at companies including Etsy, Squarespace, and Livestream. He brings 20 years of experience leading customer acquisition teams, scaling customer service operations globally, heading customer-centric product development teams, and building people operations teams. Hertzberg is an advisor to several high-growth SaaS, eCommerce, and marketplace startups in New York City. He earned an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and a B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania.

Thompson has been a board member and advisor to several mid-market high growth companies across different industries, especially healthcare and enterprise software, since 2016.  Prior to that, he spent 16 years at Nuance Communications, a pioneer in voice recognition and natural language understanding, where, as Executive Vice President and General Manager, he built the Mobile Division into a $400 million business deploying cloud-based virtual assistants across mobile devices, mobile operators, automobiles, consumer electronics, and enterprises. Thompson earned an M.B.A. from Cornell University, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly.
