EmbraceRace Recognized by NBC Universal's "Erase the Hate" Campaign at the People's Choice Awards

AMHERST, Mass., Nov. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- EmbraceRace was chosen to be part of NBC Universal's first ever Erase The Hate accelerator program earlier this year. Their work and that of other select changemakers will be celebrated at the People's Choice Awards this Sunday, November 11th in Los Angeles.

The Erase The Hate accelerator program honors organizations committed to countering hate and promoting inclusivity. As part of the program's first cohort of six changemakers, EmbraceRace received resources and guidance to accelerate its efforts to support parents to raise children who are brave, thoughtful and informed about race and who can help chart a path away from racial anxiety and division and toward a truly inclusive multiracial democracy. The accelerator program kicked off with an Immersion Week in New York in February and is being amplified at the People's Choice Awards this weekend.

Erase The Hate is a campaign launched by NBC Universal to bring attention to bias and hate in the United States. The campaign began in 1994 to fight discrimination and hate through a series of documentaries. Recent events make clear that the campaign's mission remains timely and vital.

According to Melissa Giraud, one of the co-founders of EmbraceRace, "Participating in Erase The Hate's inaugural class has given a real boost to our work. Connecting with others working on different areas of social justice, getting the word out about our efforts, and growing the EmbraceRace community of adults raising brave kids gives me hope that hate will lose."

The People's Choice Awards airs on E! On November 11, 2018 at 9 p.m. ET from Los Angeles, California. In addition to amplifying the work of EmbraceRace and other Erase The Hate changemakers, the People's Choice Awards will also feature John Legend presenting Bryan Stevenson of the Equal Justice Initiative with the first annual Erase The Hate People's Champion Award for a lifetime of social justice work.
