Sheba Medical Center, Tel HaShomer and Israeli HealthTech Start-Ups Join Forces to Advance the Future of Healthcare at Chicago MATTER

CHICAGO, Nov. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In a partnership aimed at turning high tech ideas into lifesaving products, Israel's national hospital, Sheba Medical Center, Tel HaShomer, joined twenty promising Israeli startups at the Chicago-Israel HealthTech Summit this past week.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel lent his support by opening up the three day conference. The summit was organized by the nonprofit Chicago MATTER in partnership with Sheba Medical Center and The Center for Digital Innovation (CDI), along with Allscripts.

Dr. Eyal Zimlichman, Sheba's Deputy Director General, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Innovation Officer of the ARC (Accelerate, Redesign, Collaborate) Innovation Center, who spoke at the conference, said this kind of partnership is vital to help save patients.

"Collaboration is a crucial part of innovation, and the ARC Innovation Center at Sheba and MATTER will work together closely to bring dynamic healthcare startups to market," said Dr. Zimlichman.

"Israel has one of the world's most vibrant communities of healthcare entrepreneurs ? and most of them look to the United States to commercialize their technologies," MATTER CEO Steven Collens said. "MATTER is the ideal launching point for them to enter the U.S., given our network, educational resources and community."

Zimlichman predicts that over the next decade, Sheba will continue to alter the medical landscape at a swift pace.

"Sheba Medical Center is the epicenter of innovative ideas and research in health care," said Zimlichman. "Our ARC Innovation Center will change the way we treat patients and save lives with groundbreaking technology."

At the ARC Innovation Center, seamless integration between innovators, scientists, start-ups, high-level developers, large corporate companies, investors and academia allows the pace of innovation to move rapidly. Dr. Zimlichman is focused on turning inventive ideas ? in the areas of predictive medicine, virtual reality and telemedicine ? into real technologies and products that help people.
Prof. Zimlichman is available for interviews.
