Mr. Vecera, 47, is the founder and program and social development director of the Don Bosco Youth Leadership Centre, a position he has held since the age of 21. The Don Bosco YLC is a community centre which reaches over 1000 youths per year in the Rivière-des-Prairies community by offering them different social, educational, leisure, prevention and intervention programs. His devotion towards youth and families of the borough earned Mr. Vecera the Medal of the Quebec National Assembly in 2016.

''My work with the community and families is an extension of my own life. Serving as the mayor of Rivière-des-Prairies?Pointe-aux-Trembles will allow me to contribute and have an impact on a larger scale. I want my children to grow up in a borough where everyone can live happily and prosper. With the help of the team that is already in place, we will continue to work to improve the quality of life of all our fellow citizens'', said Mr. Vecera.

''Theo Vecera has been involved in his community for over 27 years. We are all impressed by his dynamism and leadership. He is very familiar with the reality of his fellow citizens who appreciate his dedication to the families of Rivière-des-Prairies?Pointe-aux-Trembles. His commitment also extends to environmental and public safety issues in the borough. He is an exemplary candidate, who will perfectly complement the team of Ensemble Montréal councillors currently at City Hall'', Mr. Perez stated.

In addition to youth issues, Mr. Vecera has also demonstrated leadership in the community, most notably by being part of the ''Sanimax SOS Citizens' Committee'', which denounces and keeps watch over the operations of a carcass processing plant, and by creating the "RDP Neighborhood Watch", a Facebook neighborhood watch group.

As for Ms. Suzanne Décarie, interim mayor, she warmly welcomes Mr. Vecera as a member of her borough team. ''His involvement in the community is exemplary. It is obvious that all our elected officials are enthusiastic about this candidacy and we are confident that with Mr. Vecera by our side starting December 16, we can quickly get to work to meet the expectations of residents of Rivière-des-Prairies?Pointe-aux-Trembles'', she said.
