Sun Glo Plating Company Now Offering Passivation to Improve Corrosion Resistance of Stainless Steel Alloys

CLEARWATER, Fla., Oct. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Representatives with Clearwater, Florida-based Sun Glo Plating Company, announced today that the company is now offering passivation to improve the corrosion resistance of stainless steel alloys.

"Passivation is accomplished by immersing stainless steel in a nitric or citric acid bath," said Dave Brackenhamer, director of business development and spokesman for Sun-Glo Plating Company. "The acid removes tramp iron and surface contaminants, which helps to clean and re-oxidize the metal. This post-fabrication process provides for a more passive and corrosion resistant surface."

Not only is passivation used in post-fabrication, according to Brackenhaner, but also it is helpful to restore damaged stainless steel surfaces by removing the surface iron that is exposed from mechanical use and/or chemical cleaners. After it's complete, the surface retains its natural finish. The acid treatment provides a lower cost when associated with other corrosion resistant processes.

Brackenhamer went on to note that a few benefits of passivation is improved corrosion resistance, reduced cost, it helps in sterilization, and has mild chemical protection.

The company spokesman pointed out that that Sun Glo Plating Company has more than 32 years of experience providing expert advice for both small and industrial sized clients. Its team brings decades of experience in delivering a quality product for our clients.

"We offer many types of passivates to process a wide range of different stainless steel alloys, and we invite anyone wanting to improve the corrosion resistance of stainless steel alloys to contact us," Brackenhamer said.
