Wolf Administration Focuses on Protecting Senior Citizens from Fraud and Scams During January

HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Education and outreach staff from the Department of Banking and Securities will be focusing on protecting senior citizens from financial fraud and scams during the month of January as part of Governor Tom Wolf's Consumer Financial Protection Initiative.

The presentation "Avoiding Scams and ID Theft" ? which helps consumers protect themselves from financial scams as well as informs victims of scams on how to get help ? will be offered at the following locations:

• Chambersburg Penn Hall Retirement Community Campus at 1425 Philadelphia Avenue in Chambersburg (Franklin County) on January 9 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (Open to Franklin County PARSE members ONLY)
• Poplar Lane Court at 110 New Salem Road in Uniontown (Fayette County) on January 10 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. This event will also include Fraud Bingo (Open to residents and their guests ONLY)
• Burlholme Senior Residences at 7023 Rising Sun Avenue in Philadelphia on January 11 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM (Open to residents and their guests ONLY)
•  Klein Life at 10100 Jamison Avenue in Philadelphia on January 17 from 1:15 PM to 2:15 PM (Open to residents and their guests ONLY)
• Allentown B'nai B'rith Housing Corporation at 1616 W. Liberty Street in Allentown (Lehigh County) on January 25 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM (Open to residents and their guests ONLY)

The presentation "Consumer Fraud Bingo" ? an interactive presentation to help participants learn ways to protect themselves from investment fraud and other financial scams ? will be offered at the following locations:

• Berks County Area Agency on Aging Elder Abuse Task Force in Reading (Berks County) on January 31 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM (Open to Task Force Members ONLY)
