IBEROSTAR Spotlights Cuba

PALMA DE MALLORCA, Cuba, Oct. 20, 2017 /CNW/ - IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts, one of the Spanish chains with the biggest number of establishments in Cuba, has announced that its hotels on the island are now fully operational and are welcoming guests as normal. The only exceptions are a number of hotels where renovation work is currently underway, although they are also scheduled to reopen in the coming weeks.

IBEROSTAR Spotlights Cuba (CNW Group/IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts)

Thanks to the intense cooperation between institutions, employees and private organisations, IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts' two hotels in Havana and all its establishments in Varadero, Trinidad and Santiago de Cuba are operating as normal, offering their usual range of products and services and registering positive occupancy rates. The Havana ? Varadero package continues to be one of the most attractive and popular options with customers around the world. In addition, the IBEROSTAR Ensenachos , IBEROSTAR Daiquiri and IBEROSTAR Playa Pilar hotels will be reopening for business on 1st November following a series of improvements to their facilities, whilst the IBEROSTAR Mojito is set to open on 15th November.

Despite the recent severe weather conditions, this destination has now recovered and is operating at its full potential. The Cuban authorities have expressed their confidence that the high season, which regularly runs between November and April, will once again produce excellent results.

More than a month after Hurricane Irma, which hit the island's northeast coast particularly hard, and thanks to the support and ongoing, coordinated work of the Cuban authorities to get the destination back to normal, the country's occupancy forecasts remain unchanged.

IBEROSTAR and Cuba, a long-standing relationship

IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts has also confirmed the destination's recovery, and is currently experiencing excellent occupancy rates at its hotels, characterised by an upward trend in visitor arrivals.

The strong ties and close relationship of cooperation and commitment between IBEROSTAR and Cuba goes back more than 20 years, when the Spanish chain opened its first hotel on the island. Since then, the company has enjoyed a highly successful trajectory and currently operates 17 hotels in various locations around the island, a figure that it intends to increase over the next few years.

Aurelio Vázquez, Chief Operating Officer (COO) for IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts, stated: "Cuba has always been a key destination in our portfolio and a firm favourite with our guests from around the world. We are determined to continue channelling our efforts into this destination and are eager to boost our presence in the country, bringing the number of rooms we offer up to 12,000 by 2020."

IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts offers a large number of hotels on the island of varying types, although they all share the quality standards for which the company is renowned. On the beachfront, in the heart of Old Havana or in the Jardines del Rey archipelago, guests can enjoy a host of facilities and leisure options that guarantee a fabulous, one-of-a-kind holiday experience.
