GenXComm Announces World's First DOCSIS 3.1 FDX Product Supporting Cable Industry's 10G Vision

AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- GenXComm Inc. announced today the launch of its GX1010tm, the world's first microphotonic device that enables full duplex communication in broadband cable. The GX1010 increases uplink speeds in residential and commercial cable deployments by more than 100x, supporting the growing consumer and business demand for faster and more reliable bi-directional data rates for interactive gaming, augmented reality, cloud services, video conferencing and more. The GX1010 offers cable providers a way to deliver symmetrical 10-Gig speeds over legacy fiber-coaxial networks, reaching the speeds and reliability customers want without the need to add additional infrastructure.

Until now, upstream data transfer rates have been a shortcoming of the cable industry, with broadband service only able to provide asymmetric connectivity with the upstream throughputs typically being 5-10x slower than downstream throughputs. GenXComm's GX1010 provides a significant competitive advantage for cable broadband providers, offering a high performance, cost and power-efficient echo cancellation solution enabling symmetric bidirectional data rates. At the heart of the GX1010 is GenXComm's Photonic Integrated Circuit technology for analog echo cancellation. Leveraging the power of photonics, GX1010 is capable of cancelling echoes or reflections over the entire DOCSIS 3.1 Full Duplex band. The GX1010 provides an echo cancellation solution for both DOCSIS 3.1 FDX Remote PHY Devices (RPD) and FDX Amplifiers.

"We are thrilled to provide a cost-effective solution to fulfill the cable industry's 10GTM vision to deliver symmetric 10Gbps data rates," said Dr. Sriram Vishwanath, CEO of GenXComm Inc. "We believe GX1010, enabled by our microphotonics technology, is the best implementation of echo cancellation for the DOCSIS 3.1 FDX standard. We look forward to partnering with industry leaders as this technology gets deployed."

Microphotonics and optical signal processing enables GenXComm to provide wideband solutions for other applications such as small cell backhaul over a DOCSIS network, full duplex microwave backhaul modems with up to 224MHz bandwidths, full duplex mmWave backhaul with up to 2GHz bandwidth, 5G Integrated access and backhaul and self-backhauling relay nodes.
