Officer Wellness Goes High-Tech: Cordico Apps Target Stress and Trauma in Law Enforcement

GOLD RIVER, Calif., Feb. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly 8,000 law enforcement officers responded recently to a nationwide survey by overwhelmingly reporting that stress on the job has impacted their mental health, and 9 out of 10 officers reported that law enforcement culture continues to create a barrier to seeking help.

Law enforcement agencies nationwide are looking for a strategic solution to strengthen officer wellness. Chief John Carli of the Vacaville Police Department recently launched a customized wellness app within his agency, which led to him receiving two nominations for the Best of California Awards.

"The Cordico Law Enforcement Wellness App has been a great win for my department," said Chief Carli. "It combines the best national wellness resources with our best local resources and peer support and puts these tools directly in our hands. This is a game-changer, and there's nothing else like it."

"We needed a proactive solution for law enforcement agencies everywhere," said Dr. David Black, the CEO of Cordico. "Officers need 24/7 access to the most comprehensive and trusted wellness tools available to manage the extreme stressors and demands they face. Our apps give them powerful, on-demand tools targeting critical incidents, depression, insomnia, marital problems, trauma, suicide risk, and so much more. We customize the app for each department, and the technology works the same whether you employ fewer than 20 officers or more than 20,000."

"We all know that officer wellness touches on other key strategic concerns ? recruitment, retention, community relations, and officer safety," said Chief Carli. "When you deploy this app to all of your personnel and their spouses, think of the message that sends. It's very powerful. Consider what it means when we give this tool to our new hires, when we show it to them during the recruiting process, it's making a difference. This is ultimately about changing the culture, and the app is a major part of that process."

Gordon Graham, the co-founder of Lexipol, is an outspoken proponent of the Cordico Law Enforcement Wellness App and recently highlighted the company during a national webinar. "I'm impressed with what Cordico is doing to support our first responders," said Mr. Graham. "If you take a look at what Cordico is offering, I think you too will be impressed."
