Petco Foundation Celebrates Valentine's Day With $14 Million In Grant Investments To Help Pets In Need

SAN ANTONIO, Feb. 14, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- This Valentine's Day, the Petco Foundation, a national, nonprofit  working to inspire and lead change for animals, is providing crucial lifesaving support, with more than $14 million in grant investments to animal welfare organizations across the country. The shelter pets and the people who save them at these organizations will also enjoy the world's largest valentine containing messages of gratitude for their lifesaving work.

At select animal shelter locations, the Petco Foundation team will deliver a Valentine's celebration of thanks and love to the organization's staff and volunteers with a giant Valentine's card along with WholeHearted treats and toys for the shelter pets and a special gift of BOBS from Skechers shoes for hardworking staff. The big surprise will be the unveiling of the grant investment check for significant funding to help them save more pets in the future.

"Valentine's Day is all about love, and we especially love shelter pets. So it is so exciting to make this Valentine's Day special for the people who work tirelessly every day to save them," says Susanne Kogut, president of the Petco Foundation. "Our grant investments are designed to support the organizations that have the biggest hearts and who save the most lives. We're so honored to be a partner in their lifesaving work. And we aren't the only ones who wanted to thank them. Adopters around the country conveyed their gratitude with their personal messages to staff and volunteers working hard to save lives all year round."

The Petco Foundation partnered with WholeHearted and the award-winning artist and creator of the heart-warming MUTTS comic strip, Patrick McDonnell, to create the Valentine mosaic which is sent to nearly 4,000 animal welfare partners. The valentine contains heartfelt thank you messages from supporters across the country who uploaded photos, videos and messages to create this special symbol of love.
