The Jewish Community Center of Northern New Jersey Announces Senior Leadership Change and a Refocus of the Organization to Engage Young Families and Children

PARAMUS, N.J., Feb. 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Jewish Community Center of Northern New Jersey (formerly the YJCC), in partnership with the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey, announced today it will be pursuing a new direction for the organization focused on engaging young families and children.  Jayne Petak, JCCNNJ board member and Jewish Federation past president, stated, "This reprioritization came about after an assessment of the needs of the community and a desire to build upon some of the more successful programming initiatives currently running - including PJ Library, the establishment of an Early Childhood Program and the JFamily Young Ambassadors program for outreach."  Barry Kissler, Chairman of JCCNNJ stated, "Although our focus for the future will be on engaging younger families, two of our premier programming initiatives, Open Hearts, Open Homes and Senior Programming will continue."

Abby Leipsner, CEO, who has done an excellent job transitioning JCCNNJ to its new model of serving the community through programming without walls, has decided to pursue a different career direction. The Officers and Board of JCCNNJ are grateful to Abby for her leadership during this critical and challenging time of change for the organization and wish her great success in the future.

Jason Shames, CEO, Jewish Federation, stated, "JCCNNJ serves a very important constituency and role in our community and I support their strategic decision to focus on building relationships with young families to help them on their Jewish journey.  I, too, have enjoyed working closely with Abby and know she will be successful in this next chapter of her career."
