Michael's House Treatment Center Presents 4th Annual Finding Freedom LGBTQ Symposium in Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS, Calif., Jan. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Michael's House Treatment Center, an innovative behavioral health treatment provider, is proud to announce the fourth annual LGBTQ Symposium at the Riviera Resort Hotel in Palm Springs from January 24-26, 2019. The national conversation surrounding the vast need for resources assisting the LGBTQ population aligns well with the 2019 Finding Freedom conference theme: gender, sexual and relational intimacy.

Sessions featuring experts in the field will focus on specific topics such as gender politics, risk and preventative factors in clients with co-occurring disorders, retention and treatment outcomes, sex addiction, religion and the LGBTQ community, building culturally competent organizations and many more. The keynote speakers include Rev. Dr. Paula Stone Williams, Dr. Joe Kort, Dr. Elisabeth Sheff and Dr. Robert Weiss.

Outside of the speaking sessions, there will be two main events not only for attendees but also to support the local community of Palm Springs. Desert AIDS Project is sponsoring a free three-hour workshop for local business owners called "The ABC's of Working with LGBTQ Inclusion" on Thursday, January 24th. On Friday, January 25th, a fundraiser for The Sanctuary Palm Springs will feature a cook-off titled "Out Your Inner Chef."

The Finding Freedom LGBTQ Symposium exists to cultivate a conversation that will lead to clinical, research-based information. The conference is open to the community, human resources and Employee Assistance Program managers, treatment professionals, doctors, therapists and anyone who is interested in the unique issues facing sexual identity and co-occurring disorders treatment.
